Finishing Processes

Why AMFT

Our advanced, multi-step superfinishing process leaves a mirror finish with enhanced fatigue life.

Powertrain components and injector parts often require extreme technical cleanliness, particularly those used in oil-bearing circuits or fine fluid pathways. AMFT delivers this through:

  • High-speed brushing stations
  • Downstream precision washing and drying
  • Ability to deburr and clean small recesses on both sides
  • Controlled cycle times for high-volume production

Cleanliness values are continuously monitored during production to ensure compliance with stringent customer requirements. Technical cleanliness is treated as a core quality attribute, not an afterthought.

Our shot peening process prolongs product life by preventing fatigue and stress corrosion failures. A pioneer in this space, AMFT was the first to apply shot peening to springs for fatigue life improvement in 1929.

AMFT uses fully automatic camera and laser inspection systems capable of detecting surface defects, burrs and irregularities, form deviations, cosmetic imperfections, and dimensional deviations in the hundredth-of-a-millimeter range.

Equipped with surface scanning and compensation control, AMFT’s linear deburring systems are used to easily grind away larger burrs and uneven surfaces. We control the corner radius with planetary brushing stations and simultaneously remove secondary burrs from the grinding process.

With 10 double‑face grinding machines, AMFT offers unparalleled capacity and flexibility for high‑volume programs requiring extremely tight dimensional control:

  • Precision grinding to ± 0.00020” accuracy
  • High throughput for large production batches
  • Stable dimensional results even on challenging geometries
  • Climate‑controlled environment when required for micro‑stability

Not all parts are symmetrical - and AMFT has the technology to handle that.  For components with irregular shapes or asymmetric profiles, we use machines equipped with rotational feeds that guarantee high accuracy across non‑uniform surfaces.
